Finance and Accounting

Los Angeles based SaaS company seeks an experienced Controller to become a part of a high growth company and take responsibility for being the first hire in an accounting and clerical department reporting to the CFO.

Planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading expansion of department staff will be essential for this role.

This position is for candidates who can effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing support to internal stakeholders while providing “white glove” service to external customers, lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo.  

The roles responsibilities will expand as the company and finance team grows. Upward mobility of role to future Financial Controller as business units added and international presence increases.

Role will work from home until Maestro can return to its Los Angeles office but is not expected to travel outside the office.

What You'll Do
  • Present CFO, CEO, CRO and department managers with Company and Department monthly financial reports
  • Analyze deliverables of self and team to confirm they meet stakeholders and customer expectations
  • Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis
  • Time billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual
  • Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
  • Collaborate with executive team and internal stakeholders to make efficient and effective firm-wide operation possible
  • Lead the operations of the finance department which includes billings & collections, accounts payable and payroll
  • Flexible in completing ad-hoc tasks beyond formal job responsibilities
  • Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required
  • Evaluate, implement and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
  • Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management
  • Oversee the daily reconciliation of Cash Receipts from credit card processor
  • Experience overseeing US and International Sales tax filings beneficial
What You'll Bring
  • Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus CPA/MBA preferred
  • Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus
  • Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required
  • Demonstrated analytical abilities, tendency to quickly connect dots and surmise logical outcomes
  • Ability to effectively interact, verbally and in writing
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
  • Comprehensive knowledge of month end closings
  • Knowledge of US GAAP
  • Proven knowledge of budget forecasting
  • Financial reporting experience
  • Accounts Receivable (AR) experience preferred in SaaS environment
  • Strong familiarity with Credit Card processing, experience with Stripe Connect beneficial
  • Familiarity with US and International sales tax obligations.  Experience with using Tax-Jar is beneficial.
